I hold a BA (Cum laude) in Political Science and an MLitt in Central and Eastern European Studies (University of St Andrews). Since my undergraduate degree I have been fascinated by the conceptual issues of identity and culture. During my MLitt degree I began my research on religious identity, focusing in most of my work on the relation between religious activism and national identity in late socialist central-eastern Europe. In my current research I draw on my interdisciplinary background, concetrating on the cultural and social history of religion in Central Europe. My proposed thesis explores the relation between Catholicism and nationalism in late socialist and early postsocialist Slovakia. I am also interested in conceptual issues around memory and history. I teach undergraduate seminar on historiography (History Foundation Module) in the History Department.
