Amir Mohammad Emami is a PhD candidate in Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter. He holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and a master's degree in Philosophy of Religion from the University of Tehran, Iran. His research interests include the intellectual history of the Islamicate world, particularly Iran since the 17th century, and the intersections of Islamic intellectual disciplines of falsafa (philosophy), kalam (theology), and uṣul al-fiqh (jurisprudence) with contemporary philosophy. His first publication in the field is “Tajarrī as Religious Luck,” published in Philosophy and Jurisprudence in the Islamic World (ed. Peter Adamson, Berlin: De Gruyter, 2019). He is genuinely interested in the contribution that neglected Islamic intellectual traditions might have to global philosophy and relevantly, the methodological issues on the relation of history to philosophy.
