I am a teacher-trainer at the Institute of Teacher Training in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia.

I taught English language and physical education at secondary schools in Keningau and Kota Kinabalu Sabah, Malaysia for 10 years before joining the Institute of Teacher Training.

Throughout my career as a teacher and trainer, I enjoyed participating in competitions such as in the English Teacher's Debate, Volleyball and Malaysian Traditional Folk Dance. I am also a black-belt karate practitioner.

I am an officer for the Red Cross Society Keningau Branch, Sabah, Malaysia as part of my community service involvement.

I received several qualifications from The English Language Teaching Centre, Malaysia to train primary school English language teachers. These qualifications complement my secondary schools pedagogy.

I received few awards: 1. Best Speaker for the National Level Teacher's Debate Competition in 2008, 2. Excellent Service Award in 2009 and the 3. Young Leaders Award from the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) in 2014.

As a teacher-trainer, I train pre-service and in-service teachers of ESL on policy, curriculum and pedagogy.

My research interest is in comparative and international education, focussing on the teaching of writing for early writers. I am very interested in the theory of multimodality where I used this as a lens to understand children's multimodal texts design.

I was involved in a few international projects: Supervisory team with the University of St. Mark and St. John Plymouth, England in 2012-2013, Organising Committee for the University of Cambridge Day in 2009, Facilitator for the 4th Asian School Football Championship in 2009, to name a few.

I speak fluent Kadazan, Murut and Bajau (indigenous dialects in North Borneo), Malay, and fairly on Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka) and English as my 4th language.
