Josie has worked in TESOL for many years and spent much of her career teaching English abroad. She began teaching in language schools in Turkey, Portugal and Italy, before working as a Business English/ ESP trainer in Belgium and Germany. For the last 10 years, she has worked in higher education, both in the UK and overseas, teaching English for academic purposes and working on teacher development programmes. She currently works as a Lecturer in ELT/TESOL  at the University of Central Lancashire in the north west of England, where she teaches on undergraduate TESOL modules linked to the BA TESOL with a modern language course. She also works on other intensive teacher training programmes, often with visiting teachers  from partnerships in countries such as China. Josie is interested in the challenges of transferring knowledge to diverse teaching contexts for both novice and experienced teachers. She is particularly interested in issues faced by L2 English speaker teachers, and the shaping of teacher identities through development initiatives and ‘lived’ teaching experiences in specific contexts.
