Luqman Mukadam is an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) researcher with interests in English for Religious Purposes.
As a dedicated researcher in the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) with a keen interest in English for religious purposes, my work over the past decade has revolved around investigating the language needs and practices within religious contexts. Through my research activities, I have sought to explore the unique linguistic features, communication strategies, and specialized language materials required for effective communication in religious settings.
One of my primary research interests lies in understanding the distinctive characteristics of religious language and its impact on communication within religious communities. I have delved into the linguistic analysis of religious texts, sermons, prayers, and other forms of discourse prevalent in various religious traditions. By examining the rhetorical strategies and discourse patterns employed in these texts, I aim to uncover how language is utilized to convey profound spiritual meanings, foster a sense of community, and strengthen religious identity.
Furthermore, my research endeavors have also focused on the development and design of language materials for English learners studying in religious contexts. By employing needs analysis and curriculum development approaches, I have aimed to create tailored instructional materials that address the language requirements of individuals engaging in religious education. These materials take into account the specific vocabulary, communication strategies, and cultural nuances necessary for effective religious discourse.
In order to remain at the forefront of research in the field, I have actively participated in renowned conferences focusing on TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and ESP. These conferences have provided invaluable opportunities to engage with scholars, educators, and practitioners from diverse backgrounds and gain insights into the latest advancements in ESP research.
