I came to archaeology after moving to Devon in 2002. Firstly doing an ‘A’ level in archaeology at night school and then moving on to a BA in Archaeology at the University of Exeter. On finishing the BA (Hons) in 2009 I was keen to continue studying and decided to be one of the first students to undertake the bioarchaeology MSc. here at Exeter under the expert tutelage of Dr. Christopher Knüsel. I decided to study for the MSc. part time whilst working for AccessAbility, supporting disabled students, on campus. A job I found to be very rewarding. By the time I had completed the MSc. in 2011 I had the osteology bug and had found a project which I felt was worthy of research ‘The Past People of Exeter’. It took two years to secure funding for my PhD which I eventually started in 2013. During those two years I continued to work for AccessAbility whilst curating the collection voluntarily.

As my project is particularly relevant to Exeter I am very keen to share my research and findings and often involve myself in local archaeological matters when time allows. I am on the executive committee for the Devon Archaeological Society and Assistant Branch Leader of the local Young Archaeologists group.

Field work includes excavations in the South West including: Ipplepen, Moistown and Muter’s Moore along with yearly and sometimes twice yearly attendance at Piddington, a Late Iron Age and Roman Villa Site in Northamptonshire.
