I am a doctoral student at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter and a member of the Centre for Gulf Studies. My PhD project lies at the intersection of urban political economy and environmental history. In particular, I study issues relating to the history of sea/land reclamation, neoliberal urban development and gentrification in Bahrain and the Gulf. I am also interested in broader issues concerning contentious politics, memory and maritime heritage in the region.

My research is fully funded by an award from the Digital Archive of the Middle East project which is a partnership between the University of Exeter and the University of Tsinghua in Beijing. Prior to starting my PhD, I completed a MA with distinction from the University of Exeter and BA from the American University of Beirut and the American University in Washington DC.
