I am interested in social, economic and legal history in England in the long eighteenth century.  I research and write about insolvency and bankruptcy as it was experienced by the English middling sort.  The title of my doctoral thesis was 'English Bankrupts 1732-1831: A Social Account'.

I hold a BA in Film and Video, teaching qualifications, an MA in Education from UCL Institute of Education, an MA in History from the University of Exeter, and more recently a PhD in History from the University of Exeter.
