I am undertaking a Ph.D. in the Graduate School of Education exploring contributions that  complexity thinking can make to sustainable education. The working title for my thesis is Spaces of Appearance, Emergence and Response-ability: Insights and Actions for Sustainable Education.

I have worked for over 25 years in further and higher education, teaching and researching teacher education, human resource management, economics, French and English to speakers of other languages. Please visit https://exeter.academia.edu/sarahchave  to see how I am bringing insights from philosophy to these various areas.

I am a director of the South West Learning for Sustainability Coalition which aims to support practitioners and academics working in sustainability and education in the South West of England. I am a co-editor of the monthly newsletter.

As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development  I have managed and taught programmes for HR and training managers across the South West of England. I have worked with the Institute to develop professional qualifications to bridge the gap experienced by some vocational students between level 3 and postgraduate learning. As a Fellow of the Institute for Learning, the professional body for vocational teachers, I have been involved in teaching vocational teachers for over fifteen years and developed particular expertise in equality, diversity and sustainability.
