I am a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Winchester, where  I teach primary geography within Initial Teacher Education and teach geography education and children’s geographies on the BSc Geography course. I am also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  I have over twenty two years’ experience as a teacher and Deputy Head teaching environmental education, developing outdoor learning opportunities in  the school grounds  and providing   geographical and residential  fieldwork opportunities for primary children. I have used local woodlands to provoke  creative learning across the curriculum. Since moving into Higher Education my research has explored children’s personal geographies through scrapbooking, sense of place maps and den building. I enjoy my  role as a Geography Champion in Hampshire and  I am also a consultant for the Geographical Association. I am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society too.  I am currently  in the thesis stage of the Doctorate in Education during which I have developed a particular interest in post-qualitative methodologies. My thesis experiments with geographical fieldwork in an education context through  posthumanist / new materialist perspectives considering more-than-human geographies, place assemblages and relational ways of being.
