I am an ethnographer working at the intersections of Dance, Performance and Ritual. I am especially interested in experimental performances and pedagogies, body movement writing systems, kinaesthetic traditions and techniques, collaborative research with a geographical focus on the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

My Ph.D. was co-supervised by the University of Exeter (Drama) and Cardiff University (Ethnomusicology) in the frame of the AHRC South West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership.

In the past, I obtained a PhD Research Grant from the Orient Institut Istanbul, a Diploma in Movement Notation: Laban from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) (2015), a Research Master’s in Area Studies: Asia and the Middle East (specialization: Turkish) from Leiden University (2013) and a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Bologna (2007). Thanks to two Erasmus scholarships, I also studied Sociology at Marmara University (2006) and Social Anthropology at the Middle East Technical University (METU)(2010-2011).

In Junuary 2020, I joined the Executive Committee of the Society for Dance Research http://societyfordanceresearch.org/

While practicing several movement and dance forms, I am currently working as an elderly care assistant and training to become a Swedish Massage Therapist at Bristol City College.
