I grew up in Surrey and graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA Honours degree in Archaeology.  I subsequently remained at the University of Birmingham to study for an MPhil in Early Medieval Landscape History (based on four South Devon boroughs).

Following completion of my MPhil I began a career working in the heritage industry starting in the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace.  I went on to work for 7 years at Kensington Palace for Historic Royal Palaces as Gallery Assistant, Admissions Supervisor and lastly as Visitor Services Manager.  During this time I also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies with the University of Leicester.  I went on to join the Museum of London Group as Visitor Services Manager, responsible for the front of house teams at the Museum of London and Museum in Docklands.

In October 2011 I was awarded a History Collaborative Doctoral Studentship at Exeter University, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Tucker's Hall, Exeter.  My PhD is based around the social history of the woollen cloth trade in Exeter between 1660 and 1720.
