After initially graduating in 2001, I embarked upon a successful career in Human Resources, and after progressing through a variety of roles and sectors, I was looking for a way to blend my employment related skills and experience with my enthusiasm for learning in the interdisciplinary field of medieval studies which I had enjoyed as an undergraduate. It is with this in mind that I returned to Exeter to expand my own knowledge, share this learning and ultimately encourage others to explore areas which I find fascinating. I completed my MA(res) at Reading University undertaking research modules in Medieval Architecture in Monastic Infirmaries, Manuscript Studies of Eleventh-Century Tropers, and a dissertation on 'The Role of Visitors in Southern English Royal Monastic Foundations between 1123 and 1307: The Spiritual Economics of the Visitor and Hospitality Transactions at Reading and Beaulieu Abbeys and their associated foundations.’   My current PhD research considers the Cistercian Monastic Infirmary, asking how the infirmary facilities were used and what was their role in twelfth and thirteenth century monastic life.
